TroopPlanner v0.42.0

← All releases

This first public page covers the week of changes that went live between v0.37.0 and v0.42.0.

What's new on the site

Events

  • A family RSVP button. One household can now answer for everyone at once, with a chip per member showing who is in and who is out. Each chip is named and shaped, so you can read the answer without relying on color alone.
  • Every single-member surface now uses the same RSVP toggle, so the control behaves identically wherever you meet it.
  • The repeating RSVP reminder emails are gone. The automatic reminder kept no record of what it had sent, so it re-mailed every non-responder once an hour for a full day — including people who had already answered. It has been removed. A leader still sends a reminder deliberately when one is wanted.
  • A hand-sent "no RSVP yet" reminder now means what it says. Members who answered "no" or "maybe" were being treated as not having answered; they are not nudged any more. An adult whose family already answered on their behalf is also left out.
  • The "Send RSVP invites" button and its magic-link invitation emails were retired, along with the automatic reminder.
  • Cancel an event instead of deleting it. A cancelled event stays visible on the calendar and lists, marked as cancelled, rather than disappearing.
  • The event fee page is much faster — the work it used to do once per RSVP is now done in a single pass, so a large event's fee page loads without the long wait.
  • The Needs Resolution alert refreshes in place, sits in one consistent spot, no longer appears twice, and keeps its Refund button when it refreshes.
  • Time fields no longer show a seconds box.
  • The attendance page loads noticeably faster — the navigation renders first and the page carries less weight.
  • Event detail stops re-fetching information it already has.

Communications

  • Email templates gained a much larger set of fill-in blocks. An edited guest invitation can now carry troop identity, the organizer, contact details, and directions — none of which the first version exposed.
  • The built-in default now loads into the editor as an editable starting point, so you can adjust the supplied wording instead of writing a replacement from scratch. Authoring notes are stripped out of what you are given to edit.

Photos

  • Un-publishing a photo now works correctly in every case.

Advancement

  • Editing a merit badge counselor no longer clears the counselor when you save.
  • Hand-entered Safeguarding Youth Training expiration dates are now written through the same single path as imported ones, and existing hand-entered dates were corrected to match.
  • A new integrity scan checks earned awards for mismatched identities and dates, so bad records are found rather than sitting unnoticed.

Campouts & trips

  • Document and training compliance is now checked against the trip's own dates rather than today, so a certification that expires before the trip counts as expired.

Permissions

  • The by-category permissions page is now editable — set levels for a category directly on the page instead of going elsewhere. Each level's meaning is spelled out per category, because "level 3" does not mean the same thing everywhere.
  • Setting an event fee amount and archiving an event now require the adult tier.
  • Gallery management was split into a leader tier and an adult tier rather than one blanket permission.
  • Equipment permissions now follow the same rules as the rest of the site.

Imports

  • TroopMaster adult and Order of the Arrow PDF dates are read by the same date parser as everything else, so oddly formatted dates import correctly.
  • AHMR medical dates are now labeled completion dates rather than expiry dates, which is what they actually are.

Backups

  • Backup key setup was made more secure.
  • Choose what happens to backups when you retire a live troop, instead of a single fixed behavior.
  • Several backup-key fixes.

Help

  • A new public Help section at /help/, opening with an illustrated step-by-step sign-in guide, linked from the login page. It is readable without an account.

Accounts & security

  • Sign-in links are now handled more securely.
  • The audit log is better protected against changes.
  • Files that fail to open now show a clear error.

Performance & reliability

  • Housekeeping that used to fail silently now reports itself: tenant tasks against a missing troop are refused, orphaned scheduled jobs are healed, and each deploy reports any troop schema missing its record.
