TroopPlanner v0.44.0

← All releases

The bulk of the September 2 changes. A second release followed the same evening with a few more fixes (see v0.45.0).

What's new on the site

Events

  • Schedule reminders straight from the event page. A Schedule reminders entry now sits in the Actions card on the event detail page, next to Attendance and Shift roster. Previously the only way in was to open Edit Event first.
  • Scheduling a reminder confirms itself. A message names how many reminders were scheduled, instead of leaving you to reopen the panel to check.
  • A reminder is claimed before it is sent, and a repeat inside 24 hours is refused. This is the guard that stops the same reminder going out twice, now enforced at the moment of sending. When a send is refused, the panel says so and stays open, with the override alongside it.
  • A part-refused batch now keeps the half it can. Asking for "now" alongside "one week before" used to discard both when the immediate one was refused. The future-dated reminders are now scheduled and only the immediate one is held back.
  • Send times that have already passed are no longer offered.
  • Deleting a pending reminder no longer asks you to confirm, and the row disappears immediately.
  • The repeating automatic RSVP reminder emails are gone. A leader still sends a reminder deliberately when one is wanted. The "Send RSVP invites" button and its magic-link invitations were retired with it.
  • A hand-sent "no RSVP yet" reminder now means what it says. Members who answered "no" or "maybe" are no longer nudged, and an adult whose family already answered on their behalf is left out.
  • Family RSVP chips are named and shaped, so an answer can be read without relying on color alone.

Communications

  • A mailbox shared by two people receives one copy, not two. Addresses are now grouped before batching, so a parent listed on two family records can no longer land in two different batches from a single send.
  • Email templates gained a much larger set of fill-in blocks. Troop identity, the organizer, contact details and directions are all available to an edited template. The built-in default loads into the editor as an editable starting point, with authoring notes stripped out of what you are given to edit.

Advancement

  • Eagle badge column headers now carry a count of how many scouts still need that badge, so the gaps are visible at a glance.

Permissions

  • Every category now has its own short label for each level, so the by-category page reads in that category's own terms rather than in generic ones.
  • The per-position editor supports "no override: inherit the base level" as an explicit choice, instead of forcing a level.

Roster

  • The confirmation prompts on toggling a position and removing a checklist item are gone, and the exit-wizard cancel wording is clearer.

Backups & security

  • The platform backup is encrypted, and a documented restore process now exists.
  • Large backups no longer have to fit in memory. The backup is streamed as it is produced, so a big troop's backup runs in constant memory instead of failing.
  • The audit log's older entries are now better protected against changes.

Appearance

  • Icons are delivered as static assets rather than inlined into every page, so pages carry less weight.

Performance & reliability

  • A private file whose owning record has gone is now detected, healed, and prevented from recurring.
  • A private file that can no longer be opened is reported with a stated remedy, instead of stalling a deploy on work that cannot be completed.
  • Nightly scans no longer enter a half-provisioned troop schema.
  • The adult list is back inside its query budget.
