A release with a lot of behind-the-scenes safety work. The part you will see is mostly email and the roster.
What's new on the site
Communications
- Nine more of the emails the site sends can now be edited by a troop admin. Settings → Data Types → Email Templates now lists 13 templates instead of four. The new ones are the merit-badge started notices to the scout and to the counselor, the counselor access link, waitlist promotion, the scheduled event reminder, the weekly stale-onboarding digest, the weekly advancement-readiness reminder, the manage-subscriptions link request, and the feedback response notification. Each opens pre-filled with the wording that ships today, so nothing changes until a troop edits it, and a template that fails to render falls back to the shipped default rather than sending a broken email.
- A large send now opens one connection instead of one per person. A 180-recipient broadcast made 180 handshakes before; it now makes one. Large sends finish faster and cope better if the provider throttles part-way.
- A bad address in a recipient list no longer costs a reconnection. Only a real connection failure reopens the connection now, so one malformed address in a large list stops slowing the rest of the send.
- Scheduling a reminder confirms once, not twice. The confirmation no longer reappears on the next page you open.
Events
- The reminders modal opens with fewer database queries — 14 down to 9.
Advancement
- A third merit-badge page no longer shows an error page. The other two were fixed in
v0.45.0; this completes the set.
Roster
- A troop adult who is also a merit badge counselor can be merged into one person. The merge keeps the counselor record, the authorized badges, any in-progress blue cards, the counselor portal link, and the later youth-protection expiry date. Adding a counselor who is already a troop adult now links to that person instead of creating a second record.
- Every scout with a parent on file now has a primary parent. Nothing set one before, so finance could not work out which family account should pay. Adding a parent sets the primary automatically, removing the primary promotes the next one, and existing records were healed.
Finance
- The transactions CSV export stamps the troop's own date, not UTC. A transaction entered in the evening no longer exports as the following day.
Imports
- The Troopmaster activity import was reworked for the updated PDF reader. One activity that the old reader merged into the previous day is now read as its own record, so the imported count is one higher than before and matches the source document.
Backups & security
- The audit log's protection was strengthened.
- The backup key button is clearer and asks before it replaces a key. The button reads Generate Keys, and the stored public key stays visible on the card.
- Test Connection now says it tests your saved settings, and the button is disabled while the card has unsaved edits — so a test can no longer appear to check something you have typed but not saved.
- A site cookie now expires sooner. The privacy policy's cookie section now lists every cookie the site sets.
Appearance & performance
- A duplicated block of page code was collapsed. The permissions page carried the same inline handler 169 times; one shared handler replaces them, and the page is roughly 20 percent smaller to download. Error recovery on that page is unchanged.
Behind the scenes
Nothing here changes what you see on the site.
- Very large import files are now refused with a message.
