TroopPlanner v0.50.0

← All releases

Seventeen changes and one database migration. This release is unusually visible: five of the changes fix things you could see going wrong, including one that sent an extra copy of broadcast email to a platform mailbox. The rest is reliability work you will not notice.

What's new on the site

Email

  • Broadcast batches no longer send an extra copy to a platform mailbox. Nothing was lost or misdelivered to members, and no member ever received someone else's mail. A build check now blocks the pattern that caused it.

Photos

  • The dashboard photo strip no longer downloads full-size originals. Twelve thumbnails the size of a postage stamp were being served as full-resolution photographs — about 40 MB for a single dashboard visit, measured on the live site. Photos now get a proper thumbnail when they are uploaded, and every grid, strip and queue uses it. A photo you open at full size in the lightbox is fetched only when you actually open it, not in advance for every photo on the page. Expect the dashboard and gallery pages to load noticeably faster, especially on a phone or a slow connection.

The phone app

  • Attendance saves on each tap. Marking a member present now records it immediately instead of waiting for a Save button at the bottom of the list. Refreshing the page part-way through no longer discards the marks you have made.
  • The "⋮" menu on an attendance row opens fully. It was being cut off — about four-fifths of the panel was clipped out of view and its buttons could not be reached. Tapping anywhere on a member's row now toggles them present, instead of only the small pill on the right.

Scouts and families

  • A scout who has left the troop no longer appears as a current child. An archived scout was still listed in their parent's sidebar, still offered in the event RSVP family panel, and still named in the exit checklist. All three now show only current members. A suspended scout is unaffected and still appears — suspension affects sign-in access, not troop membership.
  • The primary parent is shown, and can be set. A scout's Family links card now badges the primary parent, and a leader or a linked parent can change which parent that is. Removing the primary parent promotes the other one automatically.

Importing members

  • Importing a file that names an archived member now skips that row and says why. Previously the import rewrote the archived member's details, reported "updated", and left them archived — so the operator saw a success and no member on the roster. The report now names the person and tells you to reactivate them before re-running. Active and suspended members import exactly as before.

Behind the scenes

Nothing here changes what you see on the site.

  • Event reminder emails share one connection instead of opening one per recipient. Measured on the test server: one connection where there had been twenty-five, with every message still delivered.
  • Several pages no longer show an error for a mistyped address. A build check stops the fault from coming back.
