Thirteen changes and one database migration. Two of them answer feedback a member submitted through the site's own feedback form. Three more close faults that cost a member real work, including eleven lost photo uploads on September 6. One keeps people outside the troop out of troop services.
What's new on the site
Email
- You can let people reply to your broadcast. A member reported that broadcast mail arrives from "Admin" with no way to answer it. The send form now carries a checkbox, "Let recipients reply to me directly", checked by default. A recipient who hits Reply then reaches your own email address. Clear the checkbox to keep your address off the message; replies then go to a TroopPlanner mailbox that nobody in your troop reads. The From line is unchanged either way — a leader's own address there is refused by the receiving mail system.
Photos
- iPhone photos upload. Two separate faults, both fixed here.
- HEIC files are accepted. HEIC is the iPhone camera's default format, and the site rejected it with "not an image or a corrupted image", which was wrong — the file was a valid image the site could not read. A member lost eleven uploads to this on September 6 and had to re-export each one as JPEG. The site now reads HEIC.
- Upload from the home-screen app works. Adding the site to an iPhone home screen installed a background helper that claimed every form submission and re-sent it. The photo did not survive that re-send, so the upload failed. Nine uploads failed that way in one session, including after a full sign-out and sign-in. The helper now leaves every form submission alone and touches only page loads.
The phone app
- RSVP works without a signal. Tapping Yes, No or Maybe on an event in
/app/ while the phone had no signal did nothing at all, with no warning, and the tap was lost. The answer is now saved on the phone, shown right away with a small clock beside it, and sent to the site when the signal returns. The control also shows whether that answer would land on the waitlist, and the "Give up your spot?" prompt works the same way offline.
- One limit. This covers a page you already have open. Opening the app cold with no signal still shows nothing, because the offline copy of your data is never stored on the phone. That fix is merged and rides the next release.
Scouts and families
- "Begin Exit Process" is off the profile header. A member reported almost starting the exit process by accident: the button sat beside their own name in the top right, where they were reaching to sign out. The only entry point is now the Actions card lower down the page.
- The exit control checks the right permission on an adult's profile. It was checked against the scout-data level on every profile, including an adult's. It now checks scout data on a scout and adult data on an adult, matching the exit process itself.
Permissions and sign-in
-
People outside the troop no longer reach troop services. External is the record type for a person outside the troop — an outside merit badge counselor, or a contact record such as a district representative.
- People outside the troop can no longer reach troop pages or services.
- They no longer appear in the position assignment list, and cannot be given an adult position.
- They cannot be handed equipment.
- People outside the troop cannot send troop email.
Outside counselors keep their portal access.
