← All releases
Fifteen changes and three database migrations. One answers feedback a troop member submitted through the site's own feedback form. Two finish work the previous release said was still to come. Four close ways your data could have been lost, unreadable, or absent from a backup, none of which showed a symptom while they were broken.
What's new on the site
Email
- "Leadership Only" now means leaders. A member reported that choosing Troop Leadership on a broadcast listed every adult in the troop — more than a hundred people — and asked to pick recipients rather than un-pick them. The option meant "every adult" in the code, exactly as they saw. It now means an adult who holds a real troop position: Scoutmaster, Committee Chair, Patrol Leader and the rest. In one troop that was 37 people instead of 134. Parents who hold no position are no longer included. The same correction applies to in-app notifications, which used a separate copy of the old rule.
- The broadcast recipient picker is now Broadcast Groups only. The older audience choices are retired. Pick one or more of your troop's own groups, and hold Ctrl or Cmd to pick several. A broadcast composed before this change keeps the recipients it was composed with.
The phone app
- Opening the app with no signal now shows your data. This is the limit the last release named. The app asked the site for a copy of your data, received it, and threw it away — so every offline screen was blank. Two separate faults caused it, and both are fixed. The app now stores that copy on the phone, and an offline screen shows what it last received.
- One limit. This has been confirmed on Chrome. It has not yet been confirmed on an iPhone, which is the phone most likely to be used this way.
Scouts and families
- Member lists no longer offer people who have left. The parent-link, patrol mentor and patrol-scout dropdowns listed archived members alongside current ones, so an inactive person could be picked by mistake. They now list active members only.
Events
- A mail outage no longer stops event reminders silently. When the outgoing mail server could not be reached at the moment a scheduled reminder was due, the whole reminder check stopped with no record and nobody told. The reminder is now left alone so it retries by itself every fifteen minutes, and the reminder's creator, the event's leaders and troop admins are told once that it is delayed — then not told again for an hour while the outage lasts. Nothing is sent twice and nothing is lost.
Your files
- Uploaded files are now included in the troop backup. Imports, exports, event attachments, profile photos and private gallery photos are all captured. This changes nothing you can see; it changes what could be recovered.
