The release also changes how every email looks in your inbox: a broadcast now arrives from the leader who sent it, not from "admin". One fix comes from a troop report: a position marked "does not count" still showed a ticked "counts toward POR credit" box.
What's new on the site
Email and the newsletter
- Email now says who sent it. Every message used to arrive from "admin". A broadcast from a leader now arrives as "Leader Name via Your Troop", and Reply goes to that leader. A password reset or other system message arrives as "Your Troop". The sending address stays on the TroopPlanner domain, so the message still passes the receiving mail server's checks.
- The newsletter has "Send me a preview" and "Send now". You can mail yourself exactly what the troop will receive before it goes out. A leader at communications level 4 can send it on demand. If the weekly automatic send is due within two days, Send now replaces it, so families do not get it twice.
- The newsletter is a formatted email. It used to be plain text with leader names on a bare line and announcements under a row of dashes. It now has a header, a section per leader with their role, announcements as separate blocks, and upcoming events with their date, time, place and a link.
- A second click on Send Now no longer shows "404 Not Found". On a broadcast that had just finished sending, a repeat click opened a bare error page. It now shows "This broadcast has already been sent", and the button grays out after one click. Nothing was ever sent twice.
- The Committee email group a new troop starts with leaves out merit badge counselors.
Calendars
- Each calendar feed names the troop's time zone, so Google shows "Eastern" instead of "Universal time".
Events and campouts
- The Fees tab has one column per fact. For each member it lists the fee chosen (with Edit), how the family chose to pay, the troop's decision (Mark Paid, Waive), the result, and Refund, which appears only on a line holding charged money. The RSVP page and the Fees tab link to each other.
- The campout wizard shows its deadline notice at once, and refuses a save that would close registration before it opens, naming both dates.
- The events export leaves out the hidden credit-holder events that an activity-credit import creates. Re-importing an export could otherwise create duplicate events.
Advancement
- A position marked "does not count" no longer shows a ticked credit box. A troop reported this: a Troop Guide assignment with Track credit turned off still showed "This period counts toward POR credit", ticked. The box is now locked, with a note saying why. Nothing had been miscalculated; the box did nothing.
- A scout's self-assessment Edit button works. On a position's page, the scout who holds it saw an Edit link that did nothing. It now opens the editor, and Save closes it.
- The phone app records a Board of Review in the app. Record BOR used to open the desktop page and leave the leader on the desktop tracker. It now opens a phone-sized form and returns to the app's tracker.
- The Requirement Gaps report ignores requirement versions that are not yet in effect. No such version exists today. This prevents a wrong link the day one does.
Imports
- TroopMaster PDFs import from their own upload pages. All eight per-report TroopMaster pages under Import rejected every PDF and asked for CSV, JSON or TOML, which TroopMaster cannot produce. Only Smart Upload accepted them. Each page now accepts its PDF.
Photos
- Large photo views work for photos in private galleries. A newly uploaded photo in a private gallery now gets its larger copy too.
The phone app
- Phones that already used the offline app get this fix. A phone keeps its own copy of the app's files. The update now makes each phone fetch fresh copies from the site, instead of reusing the old ones it held. This was confirmed in a desktop browser imitating a phone, not on a real phone.
Dates, help and the public site
- Date boxes keep their dates. The cooking notebook's date box opened empty when you reopened an entry. Four others (two on position assessments, one on assigning a position, one on starting a merit badge) erased a typed date when the form came back with an error.
- Help pages show screen names in a gold box. The highlight that names a button or field looked like a link but was not one.
- The public landing page fits a phone. Its menu and footer links ran off the side of the screen.
Behind the scenes
Nothing here changes what you see on the site.
- Speed work on the attendance and advancement pages. They do less repeated work per row.
