TroopPlanner v0.65.0

← All releases

Thirty work items, 28 changes, and two database migrations: one changes only a field's help text, and one removes a position-level setting that this release replaces. Two fixes come from troop reports: the printed advancement report counted Position of Responsibility time a scout served before earning the prior rank, and the Eagle readiness table's column titles read upside down in Firefox. Most of this release closes the known gaps left at the end of v0.64.0: suspended scouts in the Scoutbook export, blue cards that credit the counselor who approved, merit badge cards missing their requirement rows, and three calendar feed faults that were canceling events troops still held.

What's new on the site

Advancement

  • Position of Responsibility time counts the way the requirement reads. A troop reported that the printed advancement report credited a Tenderfoot with 5.5 months of POR time. It counted time served before the scout earned the prior rank, and it added overlapping positions together. The tracker, the printed report and the POR Time report now share one rule: for First Class, Star and Life scouts, time counts from the prior rank's board of review date; overlapping positions count once; positions marked as not counting never count. The printout still lists every position and its length, labeled "Months held", and shows one credit line toward the next rank.
  • A position set to "does not count" no longer earns credit. Assistant Patrol Leader, Scribe and Quartermaster terms made by Bulk Assign, Switch, the patrol leader buttons or a spreadsheet import were showing a green Accruing badge and earning POR credit. Every way of assigning a position now starts from that position's own setting, and the leader can still change it on the form. A term that does not count shows a gray Not counted badge. Two scouts in one troop were affected; one wrong term on production was corrected.
  • Blue cards credit the counselor who approved. When a registered counselor approved a requirement on another counselor's scout, the card recorded the assigned counselor as the approver. It now names the counselor who clicked Approve. My Counseling also shows "Counselor: <name>" on scouts assigned to someone else.
  • Every requirement on an in-progress merit badge has its Approve button. Requirements added to a badge after a scout started never reached that scout's card, so the counselor saw a dash. On production that was 15 cards and 122 requirements, in Family Life and Sustainability. A repair command added the missing rows on October 7, and a new check stops a future change from adding requirements without the rows.
  • Bulk Assign gives each position its own row. A scout who holds two positions appears on two rows. "End date" ends only the position being replaced, the new position always starts open-ended, and a scout who already holds the chosen position never gets a second copy of it. A new checkbox shows only scouts who hold a position. On the Positions overview, the Position column now sorts in org-chart order, with the Senior Patrol Leader first.
  • The Eagle readiness column titles read correctly in Firefox. A troop reported that the rotated titles above the table read upside down in Firefox. They now read bottom to top in every browser.

Scoutbook export

  • Suspended scouts are included. A suspended scout is still on the roster, but the export skipped every one of them, with no warning, so their earned ranks, badges and awards never reached Scoutbook. The next export carries them, including anything skipped before. Archived scouts stay out.

Events and the calendar feed

  • The calendar feed stops canceling events it should leave alone. Three faults are fixed:
    • Every imported event was cancelled about 30 days after its date, although the outside calendar still listed it. A cancelled event stops counting toward camping nights, service hours, POR and participation, and shows struck through for members. On October 7, a repair command restored 22 such events in one troop.
    • An imported event that a leader had archived or set back to Draft came back as Cancelled, and visible, when the outside calendar dropped it. Archived and Draft events now keep their status.
    • A repeating event in the outside calendar, such as "Troop meeting, every Tuesday", imported as a single date, and moving one Tuesday overwrote it. Each date now imports as its own event, up to your "days ahead" setting, and moving one date changes only that date.
  • Event email goes out only while the event is Published. Scheduled reminders were still emailing families about Draft and Archived events. Reminders, the waitlist "you're in" email and the weekly newsletter now follow one rule. A reminder more than 24 hours past its time never sends late; the reminder list marks it Missed, and a leader can use Send now.
  • The newsletter's calendar preview is readable. Events ran together, the titles did not look like links, and the start time was missing. Each event is now its own block, with a linked title, the date, time and place, the description, and a visible "View event and RSVP" link.

The phone app

  • Parents can open their child's advancement. A parent who tapped Advancement was told "No scout linked", even when linked to their child. A parent with one child now lands on that child's tracker; a parent with several picks from a list.

Signing in and privacy

  • Changing a password cancels sign-in and reset links already sent. Such a link now shows the "this link has expired" page.
  • Member photos follow the profile's privacy rules. No page loses a photo.
  • The public pages get a last accuracy pass. A few leftover lines from the v0.64.0 review now match what the site actually does.
