TroopPlanner v0.70.0

← All releases

Seventeen changes and no database migrations. Most of this release is for the phone app and for leaders at a phone or keyboard: the app can finish a scout's Scout rank and record a Scoutmaster conference without leaving the app, a refused offline sign-off stops looking signed, and the top bar fits a phone screen. A scout rollback cannot be repeated by mistake.

What's new on the site

The phone app

  • A leader can finish a scout's Scout rank in the app. Scout rank has no Board of Review. It ends with the "Scout Complete" requirement after the Scoutmaster conference, and until now the app had no way to mark it, so the leader had to switch to the desktop site. A "Ready to mark complete" banner now appears when the scout is ready. Record SM Conference also stays in the app now, instead of opening the desktop page.
  • A refused offline sign-off no longer looks signed. When a leader signed off a requirement offline and the server later refused it, the app cleared the pending mark and the button read "Signed". The leader believed the sign-off went through, and it had not. A refused sign-off now shows "Not saved" with the reason, on its own line under the requirement.
  • The waitlist badge on the app's home screen names the line you are in. Scouts and adults wait in separate lines on one event, so two people could both read "Waitlisted - #1". The badge now says which line the number belongs to.

Pages and screens

  • The phone top bar fits the screen. On busy list pages, the page's own buttons pushed the notification bell off the right edge, so you had to scroll sideways to reach it, and the page title disappeared. The bar now fits, and the notification menu fits the screen too.
  • Twenty list and table pages are wider. These pages were held to the narrower width meant for forms, which squeezed their tables. They now use the full list-page width.
  • The Table Export page reads well in dark mode. Its intro text and empty-table message were low-contrast in dark mode, and its colors now match the rest of the site.

Undo

  • A scout rollback cannot be repeated by mistake. After you rewind a scout to an earlier point, that point and the changes it undid leave the list, and a second rollback to the same point is refused.

Email and messages

  • Keyboard picking of broadcast groups works smoothly. After you picked a recipient group with Enter, keyboard focus fell off the page and Escape did nothing. Focus now moves to the next group in the list.

Imports

  • Seven importers find people the same way. The activity, patrol, position, training, Troopmaster merit badge counselor, Order of the Arrow and Scoutbook parent-email imports each had their own way of deciding which member a row belongs to. They now all use the shared matcher that the other imports already use. A row should match the same person it did before. One known gap: when two adults share a parent email, the Scoutbook import links only one of them. That fix comes in a later release.

Behind the scenes

Nothing here changes what you see on the site.

  • The advancement re-pin keeps completed ranks on their edition. The re-pin moves old advancement records to the badge or rank edition in force when the scout started. The earlier version could also move a completed rank, which is now never written.
  • Stronger automated checks: a check now catches one more way of reading the wrong badge edition; the photo-gallery check covers all the public gallery pages; and twelve template checks share one way of finding templates.
  • Specification corrections: the User Account Management page description matches the live page, and the phone app's counselor list is documented as Merit Badges level 4, which is what the site uses.
