For Scouts, parents & leaders

Say if you're coming. One tap does it.

Your troop needs to know who is coming to each meeting, hike and campout. You answer with a single button. You can change your answer later, right up until answers close.

1

Find the event

When you log in, the Dashboard lists the events coming up in the next three weeks. Your answer sits next to each one, so you can see at a glance what you still owe.

To see everything, open Events in the sidebar menu and choose Calendar. The calendar shows one month at a time. Tap a day to see what is on it.

Prefer a plain list? Tap List at the top of the calendar. The list has a search box and a filter for the kind of event.

Tap the name of an event to open it.

2

Tap the button

Near the top of the event page is a box marked RSVP. Inside it is one button.

That one button does two jobs. It shows your answer, and it changes it. Each tap moves you to the next answer, then back to the start.

Going?

You have not answered yet. This is where everyone starts.

Going

You are coming. Tap once from Going? to get here.

Not Going

You are not coming. Say so — it helps leaders plan food and rides.

Maybe

You are not sure yet. Come back and change it when you know.

One more tap after Maybe takes you back to Going?, which clears your answer.

Your answer saves the moment you tap. There is no Save button to look for.

Parents: answer for the whole family

If you have Scouts linked to you, you do not get one button. You get a row of small name tags — one for you, and one for each of your Scouts.

Each tag shows a name, a shape and a color. The shape means you can still tell the answers apart if colors are hard for you to see. Tap a tag to change that one person's answer. Everyone else stays as they were.

A big family shows the first three tags and then a count, like +2. Tap the three dots at the end of the row to open the RSVP for Family panel, which lists everybody.

The panel has no Save button either. Every tap has already saved, so Close is the only button you need.

Got a reminder email? Answer straight from it.

Leaders can send a nudge to everyone who has not answered yet. That email carries a link that lets you RSVP without logging in at all.

  1. Open the email and tap the link inside it.
  2. You will see Confirm it's you. Type an email address your troop has on file for you, then choose Continue. This step stops a forwarded email from answering in your name.
  3. Choose who you are answering for. Parents can pick themselves or any linked Scout.
  4. Pick your answer and send it. You will see Thanks — your RSVP is recorded.
7 daysThe link works for one week after the email goes out.
Three triesThree wrong email addresses switch the link off. Ask a leader to send you a new one.
Change your mindOpen the same link again to change your answer, any time before it expires.
Nothing elseThe link only answers this one event. It is not a login, and it opens nothing else in your troop.

Some events ask for a bit more

Extra boxes appear under your answer when the event needs them. You will not see any of these unless they apply to you.

Shifts. Service projects and Courts of Honor are often split into shifts. A Shift Sign-Up list appears with a Sign Up button beside each one. Signing up for a shift also answers Going for the event, so there is no second step. Tap the button again to drop off.

Guests. A Court of Honor asks How many guests are you bringing? Type a number so the troop can set out enough chairs.

Fees. If the event costs money, a Pay from family account checkbox appears. Check it to pay from money the troop already holds for your family. Leave it clear to pay your own way. If more than one account could cover it, you get a Pay from list instead, so nobody has to guess. Nothing is charged right away.

Driving. When the troop is sorting out rides, adults get an Offer to drive button. You do not have to say Going first. It asks how many seats you have, which way you can help, and — if you want — what you drive.

5

When the event is full

Some events only have room for so many people. When the last place goes, the next person to say Going joins a waiting list instead.

Your button then says Waitlisted with a number, like Waitlisted - #2. That number is your place on the waitlist. If somebody drops out, you move up on your own and the troop emails you.

Adults and Scouts are counted separately, so a trip can be full for one and still open for the other.

Giving up a place you already hold is different from any other change. TroopPlanner asks Give up your spot? first, because the next person on the waitlist takes it right away and you cannot take it back yourself.

6

When answers are closed

Sometimes the button will not budge. The RSVP box always says why, in gray text underneath:

The RSVP deadline has passed. The leader set a cut-off and it has gone by.
Registration has not opened yet for this event. You are early. Try again later.
This event has been cancelled. Nothing more to do.

Your old answer stays on show in every one of these cases. It just cannot be changed. Parents see a small padlock beside the family name tags.

When it doesn't work

Nearly every RSVP problem is one of these.

What happened What to do
I answered, but my Scout did not Each name tag holds one person's answer. Tap your Scout's tag as well as your own, or open the family panel with the three dots and work down the list.
My button says Waitlisted The event is full and you are on the waitlist. The number is your place. Stay put — if somebody drops out you move up on your own.
I want to give up my place Change your answer as usual. TroopPlanner asks you to confirm first, because the next person on the waitlist takes your place at once.
The button will not change Answers are closed. Read the gray line under the button: it names the reason, whether that is a passed deadline, a date that has not opened yet, or a cancelled event.
I cannot find the event It may still be a draft. Leaders can see drafts; families cannot. Ask a leader whether it has been published yet.
My reminder link will not work Those links last 7 days, and three wrong email addresses switch one off. Ask a leader to send another, or just log in and answer on the event page.
I signed up for the wrong shift Tap that shift's button again to come off it, then sign up for the right one.
There is no Pay from family account box Either the event has no fee, or your family has no troop account set up. Your treasurer can tell you which.
On your phone? Everything on this page works the same in the mobile app at /app/. Tap Events in the bar along the bottom, then tap an event.
