Many troops hold a little money for each family — what the Scouts earned at the popcorn sale, money set aside toward camp. If yours does, you can look at yours any time.
Look in the sidebar menu for My Account.
Not there? That is not a fault. It only shows up when your troop uses the money side of TroopPlanner and your family has an account set up. Ask your treasurer if you think you should have one.
Account Balance at the top is what the troop is holding for your family right now. A minus sign means you owe the troop, not the other way round.
Linked Scouts names who the account covers. There is one account per family, not one per person. A Scout and their parent open the same account and see the same numbers.
Transaction History is every line in and out, newest first, with the running balance after each one. Money in is usually a fundraiser share or a payment back to you. Money out is usually an event fee, a camp fee or troop dues.
There is no Pay now button anywhere, and you are not missing it. You choose how to pay at the moment you say you are coming.
On an event that costs money, a Pay from family account checkbox sits next to your answer. Check it to use the troop's money. Leave it clear to pay your own way, outside TroopPlanner.
If two accounts could cover it — a Scout with two parents who each have one — you get a Pay from list instead, so nobody has to guess which.
Your choice saves the moment you make it. The money is not taken then and there: the treasurer applies fees later, or they go on automatically when the event closes. So the balance you see may not have caught up yet.
Tired of ticking it every time? Set Default RSVP Payment on your own page and it starts that way from then on.
You bought the sausages for the campout, or the timber for a service project. Put in a claim and the treasurer can credit your account.
Most of these are timing, not a mistake.
| What happened | What to do |
|---|---|
| There is no My Account in my menu | Either your troop does not use the money side of TroopPlanner, or your family has no account yet. Your treasurer can tell you which, and set one up. |
| I said pay from the account but the balance has not moved | That is normal. Your choice is recorded right away, but the money comes out later — when the treasurer applies the fees, or when the event closes. |
| There is no Pay from family account box | Either the event has no fee on it, or your family has no account. Both are worth a quick word with a leader. |
| My balance is a minus number | You owe the troop that much. Ask your treasurer how they would like it settled — TroopPlanner cannot take a payment. |
| My Scout's account looks like mine | It is the same account. Every family has one, shared by everybody linked to it. |
| My claim was denied and I don't know why | TroopPlanner does not record a reason on a denial. Ask your treasurer directly. |
| A line in the history makes no sense | Only the treasurer can add, change or remove a line. Send them the date and the amount and they can look it up. |
Try the other guides, or ask a leader in your troop.
